Well I have been putting this off for a while now, but I have some free time tonight so I decided to just get a good post up.  I'll try to go over everything from my first week here. (I will be putting photos on this blog, but I also am going to refer to my Google + account because my phone automatically uploads the pictures I take to my account)

3/20/14 Thursday:
Today we got to sleep in which was kind of nice.  Our group met up around noon and we listened to a great speaker.  He was an old man that is currently a professor here at Palacky University.  It was awesome to hear what he had to say.  He talked about his childhood during WWII.  I would love to sometime sit one on one with him just to pick his brain, so many stories.  He then took us on a tour of our "home town" of Olomouc.  This city has about 100,000 and compared to Prague it is small, but it is so beautiful.  (I will put pictures up with this post as well)  After the tour, we had to go to our first Czech language class.  It is going to be hard :^/.  Even the locals keep telling us, "good luck".  Not very comforting.  Then we had a lecture on a brief history of the Czech Republic and their how their government works.  It was interesting.

3/19/14 Wednesday:
Wednesday was fun.  The group of international students here (Erasmus) frequently gets together for events around the area.  Its really cool and a great way to get to know other international students.  Every Wednesday, a different nationality in the Erasmus program sponsors their country at one of the clubs.  This week it was the Finnish party.  All that I will say is, I am a terrible dancer.

3/18/14 Tuesday:
We went to a small town outside of Olomouc today. https://plus.google.com/u/0/+JacobGriffith2012/photos/photo/5992245458139090930
If you go to this link you will be able to see some photos of the country side and the location.  It was a town of around 50,000.  We walked quite a bit, but it was a nice day and a we were able to see the country side.  There was a fountain on the path that was interesting.  The locals claim that it is very good for you, and it is naturally bubbly because of the minerals in the ground.  I thought that it was good, almost kind of sweet.  Some of the group did not enjoy it.  On the train ride back, a few of us sat next to a lady who had her dog with her.  She was moving from her town and going to Prague for her new job as a nurse.  I just really have enjoyed these kind of small opportunities to get to know the locals.  Oh yes, I also have found that the people here really love their dogs.  Everyone takes their dogs everywhere; Restaurants, Bars,Parks, Trains, everywhere.  Something you don't see in the US.

3/17/14 Monday:
Our first day in our hometown of Olomouc.  We walked around the town and found all the buildings that we will be having class in.  Instead of having a campus, the university is located all over town.  This is because the church will donate buildings to the university so they can be put to good use.  It will definitely take some getting used to.  Then that night some of us went to a restaurant call the Torture Cafe.  It was a little creepy, but the food was good and the pivo was cheep!  They make their own homemade chips.  So I may be going back.  Then we went to the 15 minute club to meet some of the other Erasmus students.  A very fun night!

Thursday - Sunday:
So I won't go over every day from Thursday - Sunday because there was SO much that we did in Prague.  I was glad that our group came a little early on our own because it was a great way to get to know the other students from UNK.  We were also able to just explore and do our own thing.  Prague is so much fun, an awesome city!  So many old and beautiful buildings.  The food and drink is amazing!  This was the first thing that I fell in love with here.  I could eat the goulash and dumplings everyday!  The pivo is also good!  :D  We will be going back to Prague for a school trip so I won't go into too much detail on our first days here.

Please comment and let me know if you have any questions about something you would like know or if you would like me to describe anything in more detail.  This blogging thing is new to me, so sorry if these first few posts are a little rough.  Hopefully I will get better over the next few months!

Prague Castle During the Day.

Some Rabbit with dumplings and spinach, very good!

The church inside the Prague Castle.

It was a little to big for me to capture the whole front of the church, but you can still see how beautiful this building is.

This was in a small town to the east of Olomouc called Hranice

Not a very good picture, but this was a great view. — in Zbrasov, Czech Republic.

Airport travels

Just landed in Minneapolis. Waiting for a few hours and then I will be off to Paris! I hope I will be asleep the whole flight, but I have a feeling I won't be able to.... We will see. Also, just so everyone knows how dedicated I am to this blog, my flash went off while taking this photo and I really didn't care!... Well it might have been slightly embarrassing. More to come when I land in Paris.
